The thirteenth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Palestinian child, Mohammed al-Durrah

September 29, 2013

The 13th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Palestinian child Muhammad al-Durrah, who became a symbol of the Second Palestinian Intifada, which erupted on September 28, 2000, when former Prime Minister Sharon desecrated the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of 3,000 soldiers. This prompted crowds of worshippers to confront him, which led to thousands of Palestinian martyrs over the course of 5 years during which the Intifada continued to rage. 12-year-old Muhammad al-Durrah only witnessed this Intifada for two days, as he was martyred on September 30, 2000, at the hands of Israeli snipers.
