Non-Muslim judgement and sayings
Many of my friends always criticise me when I publish a quote or wisdom for non-Muslims and say, "How can you publish for an infidel, a Magi, an atheist or an alcoholic?
To these I say
Just because I publish a quote by Gandhi does not mean that I am a Hindu or that I look up to him as a role model, I can admire his wisdom that calls for tolerance and unity between different parties, and this is not haram.
Just because I post a quote from Guevara doesn't mean that I am a communist or that I look up to him as a role model, I can admire a piece of wisdom he said that calls for a struggle against injustice and that is not haram.
Just because I post a quote from Hitler doesn't mean that I am a Nazi or that I look up to him, but I can post a quote from him that makes us realise how dictators think.
If I publish a quote by a non-Muslim scientist, ruler or activist, it does not mean that I have the same faith as him or that I take him as my role model, as my role model is the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
If I do not find a wisdom or a hadith from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that expresses what I feel and I want to post it on my page so that my friends can benefit from it, I look for it in what the companions said, and if I do not find it, I look for it in what Muslim scholars and sages said, and if I do not find it, I look for it in what non-Muslims said.
Whatever I publish about non-Muslims, I make sure that it is not contrary to the Book and Sunnah, so as long as what they say is beneficial to us and applies to the reality we live in and we can benefit from it, there is no prohibition on publishing it or haram.
