My grandfather Abdullah Al-Kamil Al-Mahd bin Al-Hassan Al-Muthanna bin Al-Hassan Al-Sabt bin Imam Ali, may God be pleased with him

November 28, 2018

My grandfather is Abdullah Al-Kamil Al-Mahd bin Al-Hassan Al-Muthanna bin Al-Hassan Al-Sabt bin Imam Ali, may God be pleased with him, and Fatima Al-Zahra, may God be pleased with her, the daughter of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. He was given the title Al-Mahd or Al-Kamil because his father was Al-Hassan bin Al-Hassan and his mother was Fatima bint Al-Hussein. He resembled the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he was the sheikh of the Banu Hashim in his time.
The Abbasid Caliph Abu Jaafar al-Mansur imprisoned my grandfather Abdullah al-Kamil al-Muhd, his brothers and a group of his family in Medina. He then brought them to Kufa and imprisoned them in the palace of Ibn Hubayrah. After a while, the prison was demolished over their heads and they were buried under the rubble in the year 145 AH. Abdullah al-Kamil was seventy-five years old at that time. My grandfather Abdullah al-Kamil left behind seven of them, including my grandfather Imam Idris (founder of the Idrisid state in Morocco), who escaped the Battle of Fakh in the year 169 AH, in which the Abbasids killed many of the family of the Prophet. My grandfather Idris escaped the massacre and went out with a group of pilgrims to Egypt. He then reached Morocco, where he was pledged allegiance to and founded the Idrisid state in the year 172 AH. However, Harun al-Rashid, the Abbasid, soon sent Sulayman ibn Jarir al-Shamakh to assassinate him with poison in the year 177 AH. He was succeeded by his son Idris II, the founder of the city of Fez.
