I forgive those who guarded me in prison, but I do not forgive those who ordered my arrest.

December 31, 2017

During my detention, I got to know many of the soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officers who were guarding me.
I treated them well because my problem was not with them and I knew that they had no control over anything.
Some of them declared their loyalty to the regime, while others did not talk about politics.
I know very well that no one who sympathized with my cause could do anything. As soon as anyone showed me any sympathy, he would be next to me in prison, and no one in the military establishment could do that.

I was touched a few days ago by a message from one of my guards asking me to forgive him.

I say to him and to others who imprisoned me, I am not sad about you to the point of forgiving you. My problem was with the high command, not with you, and I will take revenge on it on the Day of Judgment, God willing, unless your hands are stained with blood, for that is something else.

I forgive those who guarded me in prison, but I do not forgive those who ordered my arrest.
