A righteous man asked his servant to bring him water to perform ablution. The servant brought him water, but it was very hot and spilled from his hand onto the man. The man said angrily: You burned me, and wanted to punish him. The servant said: O teacher of goodness and educator of people, return to what Allah - the Most High - said. The righteous man said: What did Allah - the Most High - say?!
The servant said: God Almighty said: {And those who restrain anger}.
The man said: I swallowed my anger.
The servant said: {And those who pardon people}.
The man said: I forgive you.
The servant said: “And Allah loves the doers of good.” The man said: “You are free for the sake of Allah.”
The servant said: God Almighty said: {And those who restrain anger}.
